β – Lactames

β-Lactam (Penicillin, Cefalexin) antibiotics were named after their characteristic five-membered β Lactam ring and form a large group of antibiotics. They are classified by their chemical structure in several subgroups, whereas the most important ones are the penicillins, cephalosporins and carbapenems.

EuroProxima Penicillin

Art. No.: 5091PEN

Intended use:

A competitive enzyme immunoassay for screening and quantitative analysis of penicillins in various matrices.

General information:

Penicillins are a group of antibiotics derived from the fungus Penicillium. In cattle breeding these antibiotics are used prophylactic as well as for treatment of infections, e.g. mastitis. The European Union has set Maximum Residue Limits (MRL’s) for several penicillins, varying from 25 to 300 ppb in tissue and 4 to 30 ppb in milk.

Art. No. 5091PEN
Test format Microtiter plate, 96 wells.
Sample preparation For milk, tissue and serum fast and efficient methods are included in the kit manual.
Incubation time 90 minutes
Detection limit Milk 0.08 ppb
Tissue 2.5 ppb

EuroProxima Cefalexin

Art. No.: 5091CEF

Intended use:

A competitive enzyme immunoassay for screening and quantitative analysis of cefalexin in various matrices.

General information:

Cephalosporins are bactericidal beta-lactam antibiotics and have the same mode of action as other beta-lactam antibiotics such as penicillins. Cefalexin is a first generation cephalosporin which is used for infections caused by gram-positive bacteria. The EU has set MRLs for cefalexin: 100 μg/kg in bovine milk, 200 μg/kg in bovine muscle, fat and liver and 1000 μg/kg in bovine kidney.
