RIDASCREEN® Ractopamin is a competitive enzyme immunoassay for the quantitative analysis of ractopamine in urine, meat and liver and for the qualitative analysis of ractopamin glucuronide in urine.

Description

Intended use:

RIDASCREEN® Ractopamin is a competitive enzyme immunoassay for the quantitative analysis of ractopamine in urine, meat and liver and for the qualitative analysis of ractopamin glucuronide in urine.

General Information:

Ractopamine belongs to the group of β-agonists. It is known that β-agonists are suitable for use as performance improvers within the field of livestock production. In particular, ractopamine reduces fat, increases average daily weight gain, and improves feed conversion ratio (FCR) in fattened animals. However, β-agonists have not been authorized as growth promoters in livestock in the European Union (EU).

In addition to its lipolytic and anabolic effect, ractopamine has also a relaxing effect on non-striated musculature, on which its therapeutic use as antiasthmatic agent is based. It is possible that ractopamine residues, after use in illegal practice, may lead to a risk for consumers. Concequently, the use of ractopamine has been banned in most countries.

Benefits:

  • Reliable: Extensively tested on spiked matrices.
  • Rapid: Assay results within 1 h 30 min.
  • Simple: Test can be performend immediately.
