Corticosteroids

Corticosteroids are a class of steroid hormones that are produced in the adrenal cortex of vertebrates, as well as the synthetic analogues of these hormones. Two main classes of corticosteroids, glucocorticoids and mineralocorticoids, are involved in a wide range of physiological processes, including stress response, immune response, and regulation of inflammation, carbohydratemetabolism, protein catabolism, blood electrolyte levels, and behavior.

Some common naturally occurring steroid hormones are cortisol , corticosterone , cortisone
and aldosterone . (Note that aldosterone and cortisone share the same chemical formula but the structures are different.) The main corticosteroids produced by the adrenal cortex are cortisol and aldosterone.

EuroProxima Corticosteroid

Art. No.: 5081COR

Intended use:

A competitive enzyme immunoassay for screening and quantitative analysis of corticosteroids in various matrices.

General information:

The Corticosteroid ELISA is a competitive ELISA for the detection of various corticosteroids in milk, urine, tissue and feed samples. Within the EU Maximum Residue Limits (MRL’s) for dexamethasone, betamethasone, prednisolone and methylprednisolone are established in milk, muscle (fat), kidney and liver. The MRL for dexamethasone in muscle is 0.75 μg/kg.

The Corticosteroid ELISA is a competitive enzyme immunoassay based on specific antibody sites.

EuroProxima Triamcinolone Acetonide

Art. No.: 5081TRIA

Intended use:

A competitive enzyme immunoassay for screening and quantitative analysis of triamcinolone in urine.

General information:

Triamcinolone acetonide is a synthetic corticosteroid and used as drug because of its anti- inflammation activities. In meat production corticosteroids such as triamcinolone have been misused for fattening purposes. It was found that these compounds have growth promoting properties to improve commercial quality of meat.

The Triamcinolone acetonide ELISA is a competitive enzyme immunoassay based on antibodies directed against triamcinolone acetonide.
