Description
Intended use:
Colorimetric assay for the determination of Oxalic acid in wine, beer, beverages, honey and other foodstuffs.
General Information:
As an alternative to the “Yellow line” enzymatic kits produced by Roche Diagnostics, R-Biopharm also offers the Enzytec™ Generic line, which includes enzymatic or colorimetric assays. The Enzytec™ Generic line includes 14 different enzymatic kits, which can detect acids and sugars.
Principle:
Oxalate is oxidized to carbon dioxide and hydrogen peroxide by oxalate oxidase. Hydrogen peroxide reacts in presence of peroxidase (POD) with MBTH (3-methyl-2-benzothiazolinone hydrazone) and DMAB (3-dimethylamino benzoic acid) forming a blue quinone compound. The intensity of color is proportional to the concentration of oxalate in the sample and it is read at 590 nm.
