Almond

Lateral Flow Almond

Intended use:

The Lateral Flow Almond assay is a qualitative detection assay of Almond residues in surface samples got from e.g. production lines. The assay is also applicable for food samples. The assay should be used for the detection of small amounts of Almond contaminations.

General Information:

Almond contaminations in food possibly elicit hypersensitivity in sensitive persons. Food production lines have to be free of residues to prevent these allergic reactions. The effectiveness of cleaning can be verified by using the Lateral Flow Almond Swabbing method.

RIDASCREEN®FAST Mandel / Almond

Intended use:

RIDASCREEN®FAST Mandel / Almond is a sandwich enzyme immunoassay for the quantitative analysis of almond or contamination of almond in food (ingredient components or contamination in raw and cooked food, like breakfast cereals, cookies, ice cream and chocolate).

General Information:

Almond (Amygdalys communis) is a very aromatic fruit and one of the popular tree nuts worldwide. Almonds are components of a lot of snacks and breakfast cereals. As ingredients almonds occur in a lot of foods especially in products of the industry for cookies and chocolate.
Almonds belong to the subfamily of Prunoideae and are closely related to the peach and apricots. The high protein content of approx. 25 % is not only nutritious but also an allergic potential. Approximatly 95 % of the proteins are water soluble. Even consumption of few milligrams of almond can induce allergic reactions in highly allergic persons. Symptoms range from allergic skin reactions up to anaphylactic shock. Since almond allergy is persistent during life and treatment of this allergy is not possible, avoiding almonds is extremely important for these patients.

Specifications
Art. No. R6901
Test Format Microtiter plate with 48 wells (6 strips with 8 removable wells each)
Standard Range 0 ppm (zero standard), 2.5 ppm, 5 ppm, 10 ppm, 20 ppm almond
Sample Preparation homogenization, extraction and centrifugation
Incubation Time 30 min
Detection Limit 0.1 mg/kg (ppm) almond corresponding to 0.00017 % almond (0 – 0.2 depending on the matrix)
Cross Reactivity The polyclonal antibody specifically detects proteins from almonds. Cross reaction to apricot stone is > 100 %. No cross-reaction with cashew nut, brazil nut, pecan, hazelnut, coconut, macadamia nut, walnut, chest nut, sunflower seeds, sesame and lima beans.

SureFood® ALLERGEN Almond  – NEW

Intended use:

The test detects almond DNA according to directive (EC) 1169/2011 qualitatively and / or quantitatively. Each reaction contains an internal amplification control.

For the quantitative determination the use of the laboratory reference material SureFood® QUANTARD Allergen 40 containing 40 mg almond / kg food sample and a detection system including a standard dilution is required.

For DNA preparation, the use of SureFood® PREP Advanced, protocol 1, is recommended.

General Information:

The real-time PCR assay can be used with established real-time PCR instruments capable of detection of at least two fluorescence dyes. Internal validation was performed on Roche LightCycler® 2.0, Roche LightCycler® 480 II, Roche cobas® z 480 Analyzer, Qiagen Rotor-Gene Q, Applied Biosystems 7500, Bio-Rad CFX96, Bio Molecular Systems MIC, LTF MyGo Pro, AriaDx and Agilent.
