Macadamia nut

Lateral Flow Macadamia Nut

Intended use:

The Lateral Flow Macadamia Nut assay is a qualitative detection assay of Macadamia Nut residues in surface samples got from e.g. production lines. The assay is also applicable for food samples. The assay is applied for the detection of small amounts of Macadamia Nut contaminations.

General Information:

Macadamia Nut contaminations in food possibly elicit hypersensitivity in sensitive persons. Food production lines have to be free of residues to prevent these allergic reactions. The effectiveness of cleaning can be verified by using the Lateral Flow Macadamia Nut Swabbing method.

RIDASCREEN®FAST Macadamia

Intended use:

RIDASCREEN®FAST Macadamia is a sandwich enzyme immunoassay for the quantitative analysis of macadamia nut in bakery products, ice cream, cereals, chocolate and other food.

General Information:

Nuts are one of the most common foods causing allergic reactions in children and adults. Allergy to nuts can lead to anaphylaxis symptoms. Also Macadamia nut ingestion can cause immediate-type allergic reactions.
Macadamia nut could occur as ingredient or contamination in raw or processed food. Nuts, also Macadamia nuts, have to be declared if used as food ingredient in Europe, USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. In Europe directive 2007/68/EG is applied.
Macadamia nuts are also known by various other names like Bopple nut, Australian nut, Macadamia integrifolia, Macadamia tetraphylla, Bush nut and Queensland nut. They are originating from Australia. The nuts are the seeds of the Macadamia plant which belongs to Proteaceae family.
The best way to avoid nut allergy is to avoid eating nuts in any form. Check label ingredients before buying any product. Candies, baked goods and other foods could contain Macadamia nuts and other nuts as contamination.

SureFood® ALLERGEN Macademia  – NEW

Intended use:

The test detects macadamia DNA according to directive (EC) 1169/2011 qualitatively and / or quantitatively. Each reaction contains an internal amplification control.

For the quantitative determination the use of the laboratory reference material SureFood® QUANTARD Allergen 40 containing 40 mg macadamia / kg food sample and a detection system including a standard dilution is required.

For DNA preparation, the use of SureFood® PREP Advanced, protocol 1, is recommended.

General Information:

The real-time PCR assay can be used with established real-time PCR instruments capable of detection of at least two fluorescence dyes. Internal validation was performed on Roche LightCycler® 2.0, Roche LightCycler® 480 II, Roche cobas® z 480 Analyzer, Qiagen Rotor-Gene Q, Applied Biosystems 7500, Bio-Rad CFX96, Bio Molecular Systems MIC, LTF MyGo Pro, AriaDx and Agilent.
