Lateral Flow Peanut

Intended use:

The Lateral Flow Peanut assay is a qualitative detection assay of Peanut residues in surface samples got from e.g. production lines. The assay is also applicable for food samples. The assay is applied for the detection of small amounts of Peanut contaminations.

General Information:

Peanut contaminations in food possibly elicit hypersensitivity in sensitive persons. Food production lines have to be free of residues to prevent these allergic reactions. The effectiveness of cleaning can be verified by using the Lateral Flow Peanut Swabbing method.

Specifications
Art. No. BL606-10
BL606-25
Test Format 10 x test strips (1 determination per strip)
25 x test strips (1 determination per strip)
Sample Preparation Swabbing method: cleaning surface with pre-treated swab, wash out the swab and measure
Food assay: homogenise food sample, filter, measure
Incubation Time 10 min
Detection Limit Swabbing method: 10 µg dried sample on surface

RIDASCREEN®FAST Peanut

Intended use:

RIDASCREEN®FAST Peanut test is a sandwich enzyme immunoassay for the quantitative analysis of peanuts or parts of peanuts in food. Peanut can be present as an ingredient or as a contamination in raw or heated food.

Breakfast cereals, cookies, ice cream and milk chocolate are approved by AOAC Research institute according to the Performance Tested Method Program with the license no. 030404.

General Information:

Even small traces of peanut in foodstuffs can trigger allergic reactions in sensitive individuals. In many countries peanut has to be declared on the food packaging according to the food allergen legislation.
RIDASCREEN®FAST Peanut was validated with breakfast cereals, cookies, ice cream and milk chocolate in an independent study by three independent US laboratories under the supervision of AOAC Research Institute. Each laboratory analyzed 20 blank samples and 20 samples spiked at 5 mg/kg peanut of each matrix. Two of 240 blank samples were measured positive (> 2.5 mg/kg peanut) corresponding to a specificity of 99.2 % (238/240). All of the spiked samples (240/240) were found positive (sensitivity = 100 %).

Specifications
Art. No. R6202
Test Format Microtiter plate with 48 wells (6 strips with 8 removable wells each)
Standard Range 0 ppm (zero standard), 2.5 ppm, 5 ppm, 10 ppm, 20 ppm peanut extractThe RIDASCREEN® standard material is calibrated to the reference material NIST SRM 2387 peanut butter.
Sample Preparation homogenization, extraction and centrifugation
Incubation Time 30 min
Detection Limit 0.13 mg/kg (ppm) peanut corresponding to 0.00017 % peanut (0.0 – 0.2 depending on the matrix)

Samples tested negative still could contain a peanut contamination below the limit of detection of the assay, or they might contain other peanut components like lipids for example.

Cross Reactivity Different kinds of nuts like hazelnut, almond, walnut, cashew, pistachio and pecan show no cross reaction. The cross reactivity to chickpea is 0.2 % and to green pea 0.001 %.
Specificity The polyclonal antibody specifically detects peanut proteins, including the peanut allergen Ara h1 and Ara h2.
Extracts from oat, corn, wheat, barley, sesame or soy do not interfere with the test.

SureFood® ALLERGEN Peanut – NEW

Intended use:

The test detects peanut DNA according to directive (EC) 1169/2011 qualitatively and / or quantitatively. Each reaction contains an internal amplification control.

For the quantitative determination the use of the laboratory reference material SureFood® QUANTARD Allergen 40 containing 40 mg peanut / kg food sample and a detection system including a standard dilution is required.

For DNA preparation, the use of SureFood® PREP Advanced, protocol 1, is recommended.

General Information:

The real-time PCR assay can be used with established real-time PCR instruments capable of detection of at least two fluorescence dyes. Internal validation was performed on Roche LightCycler® 2.0, Roche LightCycler® 480 II, Roche cobas® z 480 Analyzer, Qiagen Rotor-Gene Q, Applied Biosystems 7500, Bio-Rad CFX96, Bio Molecular Systems MIC, LTF MyGo Pro, AriaDx and Agilent.

SureFood® ALLERGEN 4plex Peanut/Hazelnut/Walnut+IAC

Intended use:

This multiplex test detects specific DNA sequences of peanut, hazelnut and walnut.

For DNA-preparation the use of SureFood® PREP Advanced, protocol 1 is recommended.

General Information:

The real-time PCR assay can be used with established real-time PCR instruments, equipped for the detection of four fluorescence emissions at 510 nm, 580 nm, 610 nm and 660 nm (FAM, VIC/HEX, ROX and Cy5) at the same time (Agilent MxSeries, Roche LightCycler® 480 , ABI PRISM, BioRad CFX96 etc.).
